Arnold Classic Celebrates 25th Anniversary

The Arnold Classic, one of the most prestigious titles in professional bodybuilding, will celebrate its 25th Anniversary when the IFBB Pro League competition is held March 2, 2013 at Veterans Memorial in Columbus, Ohio.

In 2012, Branch Warren of Texas won his second straight Arnold Classic title after returning to the competitive stage for the first time since suffering a quadriceps injury shortly before the 2011 Olympia. Warren earned $130,000 for the victory an an additional $10,000 for the Most Entertaining Poser Award. The popular Texan also took home the Most Muscular Trophy as well.

Dennis Wolf of Germany took second in 2012, followed by Evan Centopani of Connecticut, Ben Pakulski of Canada, Dexter Jackson of Florida and Lionel Beyeke of France. Also competing in the 2012 Arnold Classic were Fouad Abiad, Gustavo Badell, Matthias Botthof, Eduardo Correa, Brandon Curry, Michael Kefalianos, Shawn Rhoden and Ben White.

Warren became the sixth multiple winner of the Arnold Classic. Flex Wheeler won the event four times (1993, 1997, 1998, 2000), while Jay Cutler (2002-04) and Jackson (2005, 2006, 200 each won three titles. Warren joins Kevin Levrone (1994, 1996) and Kai Greene (2009-10) as two-time champions.

The 2013 Arnold Classic will be held March 2 at Veterans Memorial in Columbus, Ohio. Prejudging will be held at 2 p.m. and Finals will be held at 7 p.m.

Wer kommt jetzt eigentlich zur Arnolds?
Evan Centopani setzt die Arnold Classic 2013 aus. Die Zeit zwischen dem Olympia und der Arnold ist zu kurz, um sich stark genug zu verbessern. Darum nimmt er sich eine längere Auszeit um sich dann erneut zu qualifizieren und beim Olympia für Furore zu sorgen

Shawn Rhoden ist ebenfalls nicht bei der Arnold Classic. "Das Jahr 2012 war lang und ich brauche jetzt etwas Zeit zum regenerieren und Aufbau für den Mr. Olympia 2013."

Der zweifache Arnold Classic Sieger Branch Warren wird ebenfalls nicht in Columbus antreten.
Cedrick McMillan wird als Geheimfavorit gehandelt. Weiterhin wird Ben Pakulski ebenfalls starten, obwohl er eigentlich bis August warten wollte. Und dann ist da noch ein gewisser Kai Greene, der bei der Arnolds schonmal Anlauf für den späteren Start beim Mr. Olympia Titel nehmen will. Und nach seinem zweiten Masters Olympia Sieg wird Dexter Jackson versuchen seinen vierten Titel bei der Arnold zu holen.

2013 Lifetime Achievement Award

Rich Gaspari, who won the inaugural Arnold Classic in 1989, will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award at Arnold Classic on Saturday, March 2 at Veterans Memorial.

In addition to winning the first Arnold Classic, Gaspari’s past titles also include Mr. America (now known as the NPC Nationals), Mr. Universe, Professional Mr. World and three-time runner-up at the Mr. Olympia.

Over the past 15 years, Gaspari has developed a brand of supplements under the Gaspari Nutrition brand into one of the most formidable and popular lines in the world. Gaspari’s determination and love for the sport of bodybuilding has helped his successfully transition from a competitive bodybuilder into an active CEO who tours the globe teaching fitness to others and supporting the sports of professional and amateur bodybuilding.

The Arnold Classic Lifetime Achievement Award was established in 2000 to honor the industry’s legends for their contributions to the world of health and fitness. Previous winners include: Joe Weider (2000), Reg Park (2001), Jim Lorimer (2002), Frank Zane (2003), Bill Pearl (2004), Jack LaLanne (2005), Lee Haney (2006), Cory Everson (2007), Ben Weider (2008 ), Franco Columbu (2009), Sylvester Stallone (2010), Lou Ferrigno (2011) and Robert Kennedy (2012).
